Hi beautiful ones,
It has been so long since I last wrote here, and it truly feels like it’s been forever. A whole season has passed, and winter is now faded from my consciousness. This past life cycle was a time of deep inward reflection and cleansing. I had strong intentions to greet the spring with a solid foundational routine, a clear mind, clarified presence in my body, and a brighter outlook. After hitting a wall both creatively and emotionally (maybe hints of an early Saturn return) end of last year, I knew I had to start implementing some of the habits I decided to instill years ago but never committed to. I was feeling completely detached from my soul and my spiritual practice, and knew that this absence was severing my connection to myself and the world, detaching me from my intuition and my gifts.
So I committed to living the life I’d been imagining and deepened my habits to ground into my true self again. I instilled a consistent meditation practice, breath-work, actually reading the books I’ve collected, getting back to using cards to tap into my subconscious, manual lymphatic drainage and extensive physical detoxification, a refined strength training routine, waking up earlier in the morning to nourish my soul before I extend outward, getting serious about my nutrition, and having time alone to work towards my goals and reflect on the vision for my life as a whole. Obviously this is a lot to do all at once, and I took some serious solo time this past season to hone in on my habits to be able to clarify my energy. If you’re curious to hear about any of these aspects in more detail, please let me know and I am happy to share or guide you to further resources.
Basically I realized that my life will not develop if I’m not willing to change my day to day flow and live like the person I know that I am. This life is my own and I decide fully how it looks and feels. I’m learning to listen to what I truly want for myself. For my body, mind, and soul. It doesn’t always have to make sense scientifically or be approved by anyone except my own being. I can happily say I succeeded in this mission, and I am so thankful for the love, patience, acceptance and support around me in this process of taking my evolution more seriously than ever. The first step was to purge my closet of all clothes that were not aligned with the vision of who I am growing into, removing excess objects from my home, and from there it became easier to shed more and more layers to reveal what’s most important to me. Living simply and with ease feels natural to me, and I am amazed by the subtle power of clearing out the old and making space for the new.
Spring is now here, and the days are getting more full and saturated with light and movement. The air smells so sweet and that spring feeling is rising in my core. I sense it within me, the growth of new pathways in my mind, a new direction, an unprecedented feeling of excitement for what is continually shifting and being revealed. I’m trying to be extremely intentional with my attention, where my focus and energy goes. I’m more excited than ever about sharing my tools with others, about how to incorporate herbs, movement, nourishment, and earth connection into their lives. I plan to shift my online presence to sharing more herbalism and lifestyle content. If there’s anything you’d like to hear from me or connect about, I’m so open to hearing about it and sharing!
LIFE LATELY
I’ve been doing my meditation every morning, a simple practice of tuning into the nowness of my being in my environment. Similar to what Eckhart Tolle describes in The Power of Now. Additionally, I’ve been doing guided meditations on the app Insight Timer, and loving the ones by Davidji, especially the one called “Taking Your Life to the Next Level” whenever I need a little boost of motivation with my practice. If you’ve been looking for a place to start with your meditation practice, I highly recommend trying the guided ones on Insight Timer. The power of guided imagery is immense and has been so deeply transformative for me and has helped to uncover and activate parts of my soul I am just now beginning to understand.
Listening to a binaural playlist I made whenever I can has brought so much ease into my days. The sounds feel so neutralizing and stabilizing for my energy. I turn it on when I’m getting ready for work, running errands, or taking a break.
I spent the winter consistently lifting heavy weights 3x a week for strength building and creating my own fire in the winter, but now with the spring my body is asking for more lightness with low impact exercises like hot yoga, Pilates, and walks. Currently I’m doing infrared hot yoga 3x a week, Pilates 2x a week, and walking as frequently as I can for as long as I have time for. I always love Move with Nicole and take her classes when I feel like Pilates. I’d love to know what type of movement has been calling you, we are all so different and I am open to trying something new soon as well.
Keeping a note on my phone with essential grocery items has been vital. Knowing exactly what I like to have at home and what to do with it brings me so much peace. I thrive on routine and consistency, and the more simply I eat on a regular basis, the brighter and more aligned I feel. I’ve been rewiring my mentality around food and letting go of so much of the conditioning from the media over the past years of what we “should and should not” do regarding nutrition. I’m going back to some of my most original methods of nourishing myself from the days when I was younger and was more in tune with my intuition.
I’ve been getting back into Human Design and looking into the deeper details of my chart and energy type. I’m a generator with emotional authority via the solar plexus and sacral center. I thrive when I make decisions based on how I feel. This means that I actually have to ride my emotional wave to its full extent before I can reach a conclusion about what’s correct for me. I’ve always been insecure about being indecisive with career paths, relationships, how I think I should take care of myself, how I want to spend my time, all of it. But now I have the understanding that it’s just a part of my unique energy type, to have to feel into all the details of what may or may not become when I take action. I’m taking extra care now to listen within and sense what is true for me— at my own pace, when it comes to which actions to take and what plans to make for myself. I’ve always been really into making plans and having a clear view of what my near future holds. But now I can recognize that plans may shift according to how I’m feeling in that moment, not because I’m indecisive or not good enough. So if I have to change plans with a friend or decide to move my body in a different way that day, it’s all beautiful and a special part of my design and path. If you haven’t looked into your design, I’d recommend starting with this one and this one.
I’ve been simplifying my beauty routines and focusing on doing the “less is more” approach, using minimal products but putting more care into how I come in contact with my body. This means being more mindful with my hair, skin, and movement. Meditation, movement, and breath-work all contribute to our radiance and beauty. Gua sha has always been a part of my routine, but I had never done it on my scalp. I know that my scalp has the tendency to get congested from sweating and it also holds lots of tension. The scalp carries a lot of emotion, and taking the time to give myself a thorough scalp massage between wash days helps me feel more calm and present. It has also helped the health of my hair so much. The drainage effect from scalp massage is helping my face to be more clear and radiant. The scalp is an extension of the face… Using a stainless steel gua sha comb from Womensync to massage my scalp and bring the oils from my roots to the ends nourishes my hair from within and extends the time I can go between washes. My hair has been absolutely loving to receive the oils from the roots into the lengths and drink up that nourishment. I’ve also been using the gua sha facial tool from their collection and wow— nothing compares to the lymphatic drainage de-puffing effect from the stainless steel tool. I gently use this tool in the morning and night, with this oil and my face is shapeshifting and glowing. I’d be happy to create a video of this gua sha routine! Let me know if you want to see this :)
This winter, I had the honor of creating products as an herbal specialist with my friends at Womensync, a beautiful platform to support women in their wellness journeys, fertility, and nutrition. They share incredibly eye opening information on their Instagram, podcast, and blog. Together we created two organic loose leaf tea blends. The first one, the Female Cycle Infusion, is a blend of stinging nettle, red clover, rose, and raspberry leaf to support mineral status, hormone balance, and mood during all stages of the menstrual cycle. The second one is Raspberry Leaf Tea to support women in late stage pregnancy to prepare for more ease in childbirth and to help prevent PMS and cramps during menstruation. The taste and quality of these tea blends is just beyond, and I am drinking them every day to support my womb health and hormones. I wrote about the intentions and effects of the Female Cycle Infusion here. Thank you Susanna and Sara for having me part of your creative team!
Also… the time has finally come— I have a website! Check it out here <3
My offerings are listed on my website, along with some more writing. I’m open for 1:1 sessions for custom tincture and tea blends. These are intuitive sessions where we work together to understand which energetic and body systems may be out of balance and which plants we can connect you with to support whole health into the summer season. These sessions are offered both in person and virtually, for 15.000 isk including the herbal materials.
Soon it will be time for herbal foraging. I cannot wait to harvest fresh young dandelion leaves and birch. If you’re in Iceland, I’d love to get a group together to go on a herb walk and do some light foraging. Would you want to join, sometime in early June? Please do let me know if this is something you’d like to do together!
In the meantime, enjoy the springtime <3 Thank you for being here!
With love,
Erla Sól
